Join Our Email List (email info@gardenhousedance.org) Looking back:
- Layers : A terrific evening of installation and performance at MOCA GA in September. Thank you to everyone who came, walked the paper path, ate cake, made lists, and watched the show. The piece was presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia with funding provided by the remarkable generosity of Gardenhouse supporters and Fulton County Board of Commissioners under the guidance of the Fulton County Arts Council.
- Education: November residency at Decatur High School . Two physics teachers and one language arts teacher worked with Nicole to integrate movement into the classroom. Physics students studied momentum, while language arts students worked on paraphrasing, summarizing, and inference. Here's what Kat Sabo, language arts teacher, had to say:
“This is my 14th year of teaching, and I can easily say that my week working with Nicole in my classroom was one of the most rewarding and beneficial experiences of my career… My students were amazing thanks to Nicole's warm and encouraging personality and her incredible skill at what she does. Literally I was moved to tears twice during the week, as I watched my students participate, challenge themselves, step outside the box, and think in a way they had never been asked to before.”
- Supernatural Shakespeare: Performance in October was hugely successful, selling out at Spivey Hall. Nicole was commissioned to set movement for this play, which was produced by Clayton State College and the Georgia Humanities Council and directed by Phillip Depoy.
- In the Community : Nicole served as a peer review observer for the Atlanta Partnership for Arts and Learning in November. In December Nicole was part of the Young Audience/ Woodruff Art Center design team for training teaching artists to work in schools. Nicole was one of just two artists asked to be a part of this team, working alongside arts education directors from the Woodruff Arts Center, the Kennedy Center, Fulton County Schools, and led by the director of New York 's Center for Arts Education.
